Premium SMS - Good News for Bulletin Wireless, Australia

The Australian Communications Authority (ACA) is preparing to introduce changes to the telephone Numbering Plan that will open up cellular short message and multimedia messaging services to premium rate services, allowing carriers and service providers to charge much more than the standard call rate and to pass on a portion of the revenue to organizations using SMS for information access, online voting and other value added services.

"This is really good news for the industry here in Australia especially for Bulletin Wireless. We have been wanting to add value to our messaging services for sometime now. This means our business partners can now benefit further from delivering their key business applications across our service delivery infrastructure" says Philip Walls, Business Development Manager for Bulletin Wireless, Australia.

Bulletin Connect, a 2-way SMS application interface, is the ideal service for businesses to deliver these premium SMS services. It is easy to integrate with existing web based services & database systems and has both SMS push & pull capability. A good example is the recent deployment of Air New Zealand's new Text Express, flight information SMS service.

"For a regular flyer to receive SMS alerts if their plane is delayed or simply SMS your flight number to get the flight information back to your mobile phone, is a valuable service to have. It's simple, quick and lets the user decide when they want the information", he said.
