Bulletin Wireless, the Text Engine behind Air New Zealand

Bulletin Wireless is facilitating text messaging services for Air New Zealand to enable the rapid transmission of text data to their work force and provide notification service to their clients.

The core technology behind the Bulletin Messenger service is Bulletin Connect, a product developed totally in-house by Bulletin Wireless and provides Air New Zealand with a powerful messaging interface which can also be utilised via XML/SOAP/.NET Interface. The service enables Air NZ to deliver text message alerts quickly and Bulletins IP facilitates a seamless reply routing to the correct originator of the message.

Air New Zealand's Manager of Airline Operations Rod Butchers says the software allows the company to rapidly communicate with selected groups of employees using mobile devices. "Duty controllers and Airlines Operations staff are able to text message operational updates to a variety of different user groups on several different mobile platforms. The technology is used daily to communicate fleet status and timetabling information."

Bulletin's president, Bruce Herbert, said that Air New Zealand's launch of Bulletin Messenger is a key example of the changing nature of SMS. "SMS messaging is growing up," said Mr. Herbert. "People used to think that SMS was only for kids, but we believe that SMS is extremely important to the future of business communications. We have made SMS simple to use, secure to operate, cost effective to utilize and easy to integrate with existing technology".
