Microsoft selects Bulletin as an approved service provider for Outlook Text Messaging.

August 18th 2009: Following rigorous testing of Bulletin’s Messaging platforms, Microsoft has approved the company’s service for text messaging from Microsoft Outlook 2007.

“Microsoft believes text messaging direct from Outlook is a major new benefit for users,” said Dev P. Balasubramanian at Microsoft Corporation.  “We are delighted to have Bulletin.net Inc as a new service provider who can reach mobiles globally and deliver replies back to Outlook.”

Microsoft introduced a new built-in text messaging function alongside email in Outlook 2007 and this will also feature in the 2010 version. Bulletin TXT for Microsoft Outlook 2007 enables text messages to be sent to any mobile phone globally and for replies to be received right back into Outlook’s email. Most existing pc and email based text messaging systems require the sender to know the recipient’s phone provider’s email address. Only the mobile number is needed in Microsoft Outlook and it can be selected from the user’s existing contacts list.

“Microsoft Outlook and Bulletin’s service now make text messaging from a pc as easy as email,” said Anthony Kelly, VP Marketing at Bulletin.net Inc. “Compared to using a mobile phone to send text messages, it’s easier to type, quicker to select recipients, keeps all messages filed together and it can all be done at a lower-cost. This makes for a powerful and user-friendly way to get in touch and stay in touch with people on their mobiles.”

Microsoft’s new text messaging from Outlook 2007 incorporates a two-way reply and global service from Bulletin.net Inc. Unique patented Bulletin technology also means that when a reply is received, the original message is also displayed. This familiar feature of email, which ensures people know what the reply relates to, is now also therefore available for text messages.
